I am Holly Stevens (aka A Queer Photog)—a neurodivergent, genderqueer parent and photographer. If you’re not already familiar with my work, I create photography celebrating all bodies. A big part of my artistic process is shooting film, a medium which has a lot to teach us about acceptance and anti-perfectionism, skills that are imperative for visioning a better world. I love mentoring folks through the process of getting started shooting film, but this will be my first time teaching a workshop online! I will be SO delighted if you choose to join me.

WHY AM I TEACHING THIS?

• I believe every person is capable of making stunning images with these cameras.
• A lot of folks have approached me asking questions about how to get started with film.
• I love sharing my tips and tricks from the 15+ years I have been shooting.
• I cherish the digital container that is Zoom and all the magic that can happen there.
• I want others to benefit from what I have learned from all my mistakes, successes, and experiments.
• Film is SO COOL! It can teach us about ourselves! It can connect us with others! And it’s just plain beautiful.

I WILL PRESENT FOR 2 HOURS AND THEN WE WILL DO A LIVE Q&A FOR THE LAST 30 MINUTES.

There will be two 5-minute breaks during class to stretch, get water, etc.

If you have questions about specific images you’ve taken on film and what you could have done differently, please bring them to class to share! I’m happy to give constructive feedback to anyone who would find that helpful.
